I wrote The Nursing Mother’s Companion for you!

So, as you may or may not know, a nursing mother who came to me with latch issues with her newborn ended the happy session by telling me she thought I should write a book about breastfeeding.  The year was 1984, and I had been working with many moms on a daily basis both in person and on the “Breastfeeding Warmline” 24/7 for a few years.

When I was young, I always knew that I would breastfeed my children.  As an R.N. working in the newborn nursery, I tried to help mothers breastfeed, but it wasn’t until I had my own child that I truely learned about breastfeeding! In 1978, when I first gave birth, few mothers breastfed. Actually the 1970’s was the decade when the fewest babies were nursed in U.S. history!
